Coming Up For Air is a breathtaking family drama which takes audiences on an all-too-common journey, highlighting the importance of mental health care, sensible gun safety laws and the pressures that are put upon young people to succeed. The presentation will include preview scenes shot across Michigan from Coming Up For Air set for national theatrical release in September. The mission of the film is to inspire empathy for individuals with mental illness and their families, to explore the complexities of personal responsibility, to demonstrate how crisis intervention can prevent tragedy and to foster community discussions of mental illness and its stigmas. Speakers include producer/coscreenwriter Roger Rapoport, cast members and community mental health experts. A discussion following the presentation will focus on the critical role caregivers play hoping those in need get the help they need in a timely way. This event focuses on the fact that most people who seek treatment report positive outcomes. For more information please call (231) 720-0930.
